Margaret DUNNAGAN: I have found the DUNNAGAN lineage in Orange
Co, NC very early. I am looking for anyone who is researching
this line who could help
place Margaret in a family.
Known children of William BAKER and Margaret DUNNAGAN:
1) Moses BAKER mar Susannah -- one known son, Jesse BAKER was
living in
Sumter Co, SC. Moses fought in the Revolutionary War.
2) Jesse BAKER mar Rebecca -- moved to Sumter Co, SC after
Revolution. Jesse
Baker was born cir 1742-1753 and served in Revolutionary War,
was captured at
Fall of Charleston. Jesse died in Sumter Co, SC 28 Feb 1845; no
record on
Rebecca, but she possibly went to AL with some of her children.
3) William BAKER -- moved to Sumter Co, SC and moved west around
1815. All
we know of William is that he died on the Mississippi River in
LA. We think he
might have first settled in either GA or AL before moving
further west.
William also fought in Revolutionary War.
4) James BAKER mar Patience SMITH -- lived in Sumter Co, SC
until about 1830
when he moved to the area of Pike Co, AL that later became
Barbour Co. James
BAKER died in Barbour Co, AL in 1847; Patience died in 1853 in
Barbour Co, AL.
5) Elizabeth BAKER mar William MOORE -- lived in Sumter Co, SC
before moving
to Indiana where she died about 1847.
Also looking for (Widow) Elizabeth WITHERSPOON who was second
wife of William BAKER -- possibly died in either Craven Co, NC
or Craven Co, SC. Elizabeth named her son, Rev John Witherspoon
administrator of her will."

FIRST SETTLERS OF CATAHOULA PARISH, LA 1808-1839: By Carol Young
Knight...there are 50+ references to Kirkland's...most to
Zachariah...It seems that he and his family were in Catahoula
Par. in the 1820's; the son was one of the citations, and the
older Zachariah died about 1828...Asscociated names: SMITH,
BOWIE, PARKER, NUTTALL, DORSEY, DITTO & LOVELACE.
One entries ref. is made to Zechariah Kirkland being the
grandfather to Martha DITTO.
