In the Name of God Amen the twenty ninth day of April one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine I Edward Hubbard of Pittsylvania County being sick in body but of good and sound memory I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following revoking and annulling by these presents all other Wills heretofore by me made and this is to be taken only for my last Will and Testament and none other and as for my Worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to give me I do leave and bequeath in manner following and first I do give and bequeath unto my Sons Nathaniel and John my tract of land whereon I live to be equally divided between them. John to have the Plantation to them and their heirs for ever I do give unto my Daughter Tabitha one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. I do give unto my son Edward one Sorrel Mair (sic) with a blaize (sic) in her face and if the Mair should have a colt the said colt my desire is should go to my Son Joseph to him and his heirs forever. I do give unto my Son Reuben one Dun Callard Horse Colt with a stair(star?) in his forehead but not to have him in possession till he come of age unless my Wife is willing and the remaining part of my Estate I leave to my Wife during her life or widowhood and then to be equally divided amongst my Children. My desire further is that my survey of land lying on the branches of Straitstone joining Joseph Collins and William Chicks land may be sold and I do appoint William Collins my Executor of this my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 20th day of June 1780 the within last Will and Testament of Edward Hubbard deceased was proved by the Oaths of two of the witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded, a Certificate for obtaining letters of Administration of the Estate of the said EDWARD HUBBARD deceased with the Will annexed is granted to Elizabeth Hubbard who made oath according to law and with John George and William Collins her securities entered into Bond as the law directs and acknowledged the same.
