I have been told that Alfred Buffin and Pres. Harrison were
neighbors and good friends resulting in the naming of the 2 male
Buffin children after the Pres.
War of 1812: Giles Buffin of Charles City Co. Va, served under
Capt. Wm. Folkes Co. from 52 reg. Va Malitia commanded by Lt.Col
John H. Christian in the service from the 21 June to the 13 of
July 1813. Private for 16 days. (Giles Buffins will was proved
by Wm F. Folkes)
They are several notes stating that Amey Stanley Spraggins was
from the Westover Plantation, but have been unable to find this
connection.
William and Mary Qrtly. Vol 24: Archibald Christian (John 2,
William 1) married Fanny Warren, sister of Dr. Michael Warren
of Warrenton, James City and had 1 Mary 2 Jane who first married
Samuel Parker second Phillip Buffin.

17 years. This would have made Emily from a previous marriage

In the name of God, Amen. I Giles Buffin, of the County of
Charles City being weak and infirm in body, but of a sound mind
and disposing memory and being desirous of disposing of such
earthly goods, as it has pleased God to bless me with, so hereby
make, ordain and constitute this my last Will and Testament,
revoking all others this 1/29/1829. That is to say,
ITEM: I leave to my affectionate wife the use of my plantation,
on which I now reside, for and during her natural life, together
with every species of property not hereater expected after the
payment of my just debts, in view and for the purpose of
enabling her to educate and support my children. But at her
death or marriage is that my plantation be rented or leased for
the benfit of my children, but at no time and in no case
whatever to be sold.
ITEM: I give to my 3 sons, to wit, Alfred, Philip & Melchisdick
my 3 guns to take choice as they are named when they shall
attain to the age of 21 years or sooner, should my affectionate
wife conceive that either of them will be benefited thereby.
ITEM: My desire is that should my wife at any time find it
convenient to make such advances to my daughter, Emily Alvis, as
shall not interfere with distinguishing my debts, the education
and support of my children, she may do so, but in no case or
event shall my said daughter, receive more than a child's
proportion after the payment of my debts, education and support
as above stated.
ITEM: My desire is that should Sylvanius Spraggins, now living
with me, remain in the service of my family until he shall
arrive at the lawful age ( in addition to his annual reasonable
remuneration for services) my wife shall then, give to him, the
said Sylvanius, one cow or the value thereof.
ITEM: I give to my daughter, ALtezera Buffin, one cald (female)
to her and her heirs forever.
ITEM: I give to my daughter Emily ALvis, one small table (round)
to her and her heirs forever, and lastly I nominate my wife Amey
S. Buffin Exectx. of this my last will, with a desire that she
may act without giving security for qualification in court.
