JAMES EADDY'S WILL Will Book A, p. 227, Williamsburg, County
Court House,
Kingstree, South Carolina.
In the name of God amen -- I James Eaddy of South Carolina and
Williamsburg district, being in a low State of health and being
in perfect mind and memory recollecting that it is once
appointed for all men to die doth make this my last will and
testament, first of all I recommend my soul to God and my body
to the earth to be buried in a Christian human like manner, and
the rest of my worldy goods is my desire to be disposed of as
follows.
I give unto my son John Eaddy three hundred and twenty acres of
land, it being part of a tract of 600 acres, beginning at Pine
Station on the upper side and running round for complement and
the remainder of all the lands that I am possessed of,
I give unto my wife Mary Eaddy during her life, and at her death
it to go to my son Edward D. Eaddy. It is also my desire that my
wife Mary Eaddy shall have her Feather bed and such furniture as
she shall see fit to take, and such part of the household
furniture as she deem necessary for her support.
I also leave my son Henry Eaddy the sum of five shillings, it is
also my desire that all the remaining part of my estate be sold
and equally divided between my wife Mary Eaddy and my son Edward
D. Eaddy and my son John Eaddy, and my daughter Mary Stone and
my daughter Sarah Prosser --
Then pint my son Edward D. Eaddy my whole and sole executor to
this my last will and testament, and I do disannul all others
made by me as I do acknowledge this to be my last will and
testament as I have hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this
twenty-six day of September in one thousand eight hundred and
nineteen and in the forty-fourth year of the Independence of the
United States of America --
in presence of these witnesses.
