Nancy MINOR

4 Apr 1778 - 24 Jun 1802

ID Number: I60538

  • RESIDENCE: Spotsylvania Co. VA
  • BIRTH: 4 Apr 1778
  • DEATH: 24 Jun 1802, Spotsylvania Co. Virginia
  • RESOURCES: See: notes [S2255] [S2256] [S3620]
Father: Thomas Carr MINOR Sr.
Mother: Mary DABNEY

Family 1 : Joseph WALLER
  1. +Mary D. WALLER

Notes

Supporting Documentation Regarding Nancy Minor
1. (Mary?) Minor, daughter of D. D. was born April the 4, 1778 and departed this life the
June 24, 1802 Aged 24 years 2 months and 20 days.

The above from the Waller Family Record, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, 1832. The first name was difficult to read . The transcription of this record was made by Robert Morris Waller.

2. Based on information unverified as of March 7, 2004, it appears the first name of this person is Nancy.

The Anderson Family Records by W. P. Anderson (Cincinnati, Ohio, Press of W. F. Schaefer & Co., 1936, 176p.) lists the children of Thomas Minor and Mary Dabney Minor.

This list corresponds well with the list brought to Todd County, Kentucky c1832 by the Thomas Carr Waller family. The names and dates match. The only difference is in the name of the individual who was born April 4, 1778 and died June 24, 1802. In the family record brought to Todd County, it was difficult to read the first name so a guess was made. The Anderson Record shows the name to be Nancy who married Joseph Waller.

3. An additional unverified source, by Lottie Wright Davis, Records of Lewis, Meriwether, and Kindred Families; Genealogical Records of Minor, Davis, Wells, Gilmer, and Clark Families, Columbia, MO; Aircroft Press, 1951, 182 p., also shows this person's name as Nancy. This information was secured through HeritageQuest Online database at Genealogy.com.

ABT 1706 - ____

ID Number: I74030

  • RESIDENCE: Elizabeth Co. VA
  • BIRTH: ABT 1706, Elizabeth City, Virginia
  • RESOURCES: See: [S2805]
Father: Thomas NEEDHAM
Mother: Margaret BAILEY

Family 1 :

Notes

"There is no proof that Bailey Needham fathered these 4 children, but by process of elimination he seems the likely prospect. In order to achieve some sort of continuity in these records, I am assuming for now that he is the father of Nancy Ann, Thomas, John and William. Again, let me reiterate: there is no proof of this, nor even that all 4 children were siblings (although Thomas & John certainly seem to have been)."

Notes

"John Gotea Pressley is my great-great-grandfather. His daughter married the son of another Civil War Colonel from the 10th Regiment of Mississippi, Seaborn Moses Collins Phillips. His son William Walker Phillips and J. G. Pressley’s daughter Elizabeth are my great-grandparents. J. G. Pressley moved to Santa Rosa, CA. His son-in-law William Walker Phillips wanted to enter the banking business, and his father-in-law J. G. Pressley arranged for him to meet with the folks at Santa Rosa Savings Bank, which was owned by my other great-grandfather, David Pressley Anderson. William’s son John married David’s daughter Ruth (my grandparents). Their son David is my father.

I went to visit J. G. Pressley’s house in Kingstree, SC last year, and took many pictures. I also have his narrative which I’d be happy to share with you if you are interested."

Sincerely

John Phillips
