Notes

Knighted by Queen Elizabeth I. A fine portrait of him hangs in the Gild Hall at Norwich.
Knighted by Queen Elizabeth I, he was a Member of Parliament, Mayor of Norwich, and member of the Virginia Company.

Virginia, Prominent Families, Vol. 1-4 Volume IV, Chapter X The Pendleton Family.
In 1613, Sir John Pettus and his brother Thomas Pettus both made wills, remembering their cousins, Henry and Susan Pendleton, of Norwich, leaving them property in that city. These gentlemen lived at Cristree, St. Edmund's, near Norwich. Thomas Pettus, the son of one of these men, was one of the early councilors of the Colony, and probably influenced his cousins to come to Virginia. The two sons of Henry and Elizabeth Pendleton came to Virginia in 1674, Philip, a young teacher, and Nathaniel, a minister of the Church of England. Nathaniel died very soon, leaving no children.

Hi, I noticed with interest that your Lindsay line includes Robert m. Elizabeth Wren. She is in my Wren line, sister to Robert Wren, my 3g-grandfather. Her father was William Wren, born in Fairfax Co., and died January 10, 1817 in Fluvana Co. He was married two or three times; it is thought that his first wife was the mother of Elizabeth, Robert and Nancy. This wife has been referred to as "Miss Moss." If you are interested, I can send you William Wren's will, which refers to his dtr, Elizabeth Lindsay.
Most of this info comes from the Wren Kin Newsletter. There is more, if you're interested, mostly about Robert and Elizabeth's dtr, Emily Cornelia Lindsay, - b. abt. 1800 in Fairfax Co., died 20 March 1865, married Champion Bledsoe 24 Oct. 1828 in Fluvana Co. There is even contact information for a contemporary (1992) descendant in Idaho.
Warm regards, and thank you for your website!
Anne Lieberman, Boulder, CO

Report of old Cemetery from Graham Lindsay : up 95 and north on 495, exited onto 66 going east and off onto Rt 7 which is Leesburg Pike. Under the bridge and at the next light is Idylewood Rd. Further down we saw a newer development, the road leading into this was called Coloniel Lindsay Dr. the immediate right after entering we saw a driveway leading to a private cementary. The names of Gordam, Howell, and Wrenn. The Wrenn stone (one big stone) were for Robert and Ann who lived from about 1850-1920's. Ann's was 1853-1922 (not positive). There are several other stones(smaller) with no markings on them. The Howell (she) stone has been kept up, year of death was 1986. We drove in and out of the sides streets on Idylewood. There's a recreation park bordoring I-66 lanes leading to 495 (near the corner of the Hwy intersection. Was not able to locate any other markers or private cementaries.
