Fielding Lewis GORDON

1797 - 1835

ID Number: I48587

  • RESIDENCE: Gordon's Ferry, TN and E. Feliciana Parish, LA
  • BIRTH: 1797, Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee
  • DEATH: 1835, St. Louis, Missouri [233456]
  • RESOURCES: See: notes [S1611] [S2754] [S2755]
Father: John GORDON Jr.
Mother: Dorothy "Dolly" CROSS

Family 1 : Letha "Lettie" WADDELL
  1.  Louisa Pocahontas GORDON
  2.  John Alexander Norwood GORDON

Notes

E. Feliciana Parish, LA 1830 census. Fielding Gordon, 1 male 30-40, 1 male 50-60 (this might be John Waddell - he should be 69) 1 female 15-20.

"Fielding took the two children, John Alexander Norwood Gordon and Louisa back to TN and Gordon's Ferry to his mother, Dolly (Cross) Gordon, stayed 3 mos, then headed back to Louisiana by way of St. Louis where he had relatives plus business. There he died in 1835. I have several documents where John WADDELL went to court, represented by Lafayette Saunders, trying to keep the two children to tutor and raise. I do not know if he ever saw those
grandchildren again, but it is doubtful. Dolly did a superlative job of raising them along with other orphaned grandchildren, and they were educated and well prepared for life as adults."
