Aka: Tillos TULLIS. Temple Tullos witnessed the Will of Thankful Hicks in Duplin Co, NC, on 27 Oct 1784 when Thankful willed her property to her one daughter Rebecca Hicks Mills and her grandchildren which she named. Temple and his brother, Willoughby Tullis, married sisters, daughters of Anna Hicks Mills and James Mills.

was a farmer and affiliated with the Baptist Church.


Temple Tillis was named as a juryman in Duplin Co, NC, year unknown, during
the period 1784-1787.

Temple Tullos, brother of Willoughby Tullos, came to MS territory from GA on a
passport issued 18 Dec 1809. The record of his passport reads as follows:


"Friday, 29 Nov 1811. On application, ordered: that passports be prepared forthe following persons to travel through the Indian Nation to the Western Country,
to wit: One for Mr. Temple Tellis with his wife and eleven children.
One for Mr. John Cook and his son with seven negroes, and
one for Mr. Temple Tellis with his wife and three children all from the County of Effingham in this state."


C.D. Cochran notes that Temple Tullos Sr was in the special census of Pike Co
in 1816, again in Pike Co in 1820, and on Tax list in Pike Co, MS in 1831, and
in Marion Co, MS in 1840.


Richard Tullos is identified as a shoemaker in Northumberland County Virginia Apprenticeships 1650-1750, compiled by W. Preston Haynie and published by Heritage Books, Inc, p 103, 13 Nov 1750, when he accepts Tarned Russell as an apprentice to learn the trtade of a Shoemaker for 10,000 pounds.


C.D. Cochrane of Memphis, TN, provided me a copy of the will of Richard Tullos who d 1771, Northumberland Co, NC. The will notes wife Elizabeth, son-in law James Morgan and Daughter Sarah, John and Temple Tullos, Temple and Willoughby Tullos, daughter Elizabeth Bunell, Jane Gwyn, and son Richard Tullos.
Executors: John Tullos, John Lawrence Witnesses: James Landery, Joseph Burchom, William Morris, Jr.
