'Amanda C. Cullen, born 1818, was the daughter of Fredrick
Cullen and Elizabeth Wimberly. On May 1, 1834 she married Robert
Watkins Flournoy (b. Mar. 5, 1811) of Mount Vernon, Montgomery
Co., Ga. ......
Robert and Amanda Flournoy built a fine home (said to be on the
old Cullen place) near Sandersville. It was mentioned in Miss
Ella Mitchell's history as one of the show places of
Sandersville. The Flournoys lived in great style with their
expensive carriages, numerous slaves etc. Mrs. Roberta Andrews
recalled that Amanda Cullen was very small, tiny in fact; was
vivacious and had blue-gray eyes. Whether this was
characteristic of the Cullen girls is not known but all of the
Dixon girls, grandchildren of Clara Cullen were small and so was
one of the boys, Frank Dixon.
In 1852 Amanda Cullen and Robert Flournoy were divorced."
