"He was a Revolutionary War soldier. Concerning the Singletary
background, "Happy Heritage") (p. 68) states, "In 1780 Ebenezer
Singletary served as a member of the County Militia under
Benjamin Lincoln in the siege of Charleston, SC. He was also a
signer of one of the petitions sent to Lincoln in behalf of
himself and other fellow
citizens of Charleston, SC."
From Edward Manigault. "I have the Singletary line back to
mid-1500s in England. I also have some later Cockfields who
might be related to Jane (b.1782) who married John McNeely."
