In 1859, while the hotel in Moscow was being remodeled, he was one day riding the engine "Old Virginia" toward his hometown, when the engine blew up and he and 4 other men were killed. He was 48.

"Elias, Henry's brother Born-1811 was literally blown apart in a locomotive accident in an explosion on the "Virginia" in Scranton, Pa-Oct 21, 1859.The article comes from the Luzerne register--I dont have it-I got an e-mail on it----apparently his head was riped off and one arm-the engineer left the valve closed and the pressure caused a "Ka-boom He's buried in the Mercy cemetery in Duryea, Pa."
