Mary Ann LOCKETT

ABT 1826 - ____

ID Number: I35839

  • RESIDENCE: Chesterfield Co. VA
  • BIRTH: ABT 1826
  • RESOURCES: See: [S395] [S1297]
Father: Edmund W. LOCKETT
Mother: Eliza FLOURNOY

Family 1 : Peter TINSLEY

Notes

CONFLICT: Mary Ann Lockett was identified as the daughter of Edmund W. Lockett when she married in 1842. He consented to the marriage. Ed W. Lockett did not marry Eliza Flournoy until 1829, well after the date of Mary Ann's birth. So either Mary Ann is the daughter of a different Edmund W. Lockett, or Eliza was Edmund's second wife. (she could have m. at age 13)

"There are 3 Peter Tinsleys in the 1850 census of Virginia. One is 18, another 26, and the most likely is 34, a farmer in Hanover County with $2000 in real property. His wife is Mary J. [sic] Tinsley (32). The children are Benjamin F. Tinsley (8), Mary E. Tinsley (5), and William W. Tinsley (1). Also in the household are Catherine L. Mallory (70), Sarah Mallory (38), and James S. Mallory (24, in school within the past year). The bond for this marriage can be seen on Microfilm #81, Chesterfield County Circuit Court Marriage Records, 1841-1842. The license says the bondsman was Edmund W. Lockett, but he signs "Edmd. A. Lockett." [S1297] [S1297]
