Will Book 1836-1841 #5 p. 305 Limestone Co. AL - Index to Alabama Wills 1808-1870

"II. William Lindsay, colonel of the Second United States Artillery, born in Norfolk, Virginia, died in Alabama in 1838. He married twice; his first wife being a Miss Newton of Norfolk, Virginia, and his second, Miss Motte of South Carolina.

For William, who married Miss Newton, and then Miss Motte, it says that by his first wife he had three children: Virginia who married Mr. Wharton, Martha who married Mr. Curphew and then William Lee, and Andrew Jackson Lindsay who was educated at West Point, and who married Julia Delany of Louisiana. (mother may be Mary Ann).

By his second wife, William had 6 children; Mary Ann who married Mr. Bacon, Mattie who died in childhood, Elizabeth who died a few weeks after marriage,
William who died in childhood, Mellish Motte Lindsay who lived in Tennessee,
and who married Frances Johnson, and Martha, (this may be error as I have her dau of Wm b 1751) who married her cousin, Dr. R. B. Stark."

Notes

iv. GEORGE PEARL, born 1789 in Fredrick County, Md; died 1865 in Grayson County, Ky.
GEORGE2 PEARL (JOHN WILLIAM1) was born 1789 in Fredrick County, Md, and died 1865 in Grayson County, Ky. He married Polly Fowler 1814 in Nelson County, Ky.. She was born 1790 in Nelson County, Ky., and died December 16, 1857 in Grayson County, Ky.

Records indicate that after the Pearl Family migrated to Kentucky, George Pearl , the youngest son of John William & Christina Baumgardner - Pearl, had a son, Robert Horton Pearl born in 1808, and a daughter, Emmaline Pearl , born in 1811. We at present have not been able to determine who the mother of these children was! We can only surmise that she died some time between 1811 and 1814, when George Pearl married Polly Fowler, daughter of Zachariah Fowler in Nelson County, Ky. George Pearl’s next older brother James Pearl married Polly Fowler’s sister, Mary Druzella Fowler.

The Pearl family at this time was of the Catholic faith. George and Polly Fowler - Pearl settled down to farm and raise a family in the Big Clifty area of Nelson County, Kentucky. They attended church at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in the community of St. Paul, just a short distance west of Big Clifty. Burial: Saint Paul Catholic Cemetary, Saint Paul, Ky.

Children of GEORGE PEARL and Polly Fowler are:
i. ROBERT HORTON3 PEARL, born 1808 in Nelson County, Ky.; died October 19, 1877 in Grayson County, Ky.
ii. Emmaline Pearl, born 1811 in Nelson County, Ky; died February 23, 1853 in Grayson County, Ky.
iii. William H. Pearl, born 1820 in Grayson County, Ky; died Unknown.
iv. Sarah M. Pearl, born 1829 in Grayson County, Ky; died Unknown.
v. Mary Pearl, born 1832 in Grayson County, Ky; died Unknown.
