Hi. I think we have e-mailed before. Where you have Berlinda
Owsley in your list, you have her married to John Bryant and
Mary Owsley married to William G. Bryant. Mary Owsley was
married to John Bryant. I have been by their graves, they are
buried together along Highway 27 north of Lancaster, KY, along
with their two-year old daughter. The marriage and family of
John Bryant and Mary Owsley (sister of the first governor of KY)
are well
documented in various books and articles, and in the
Revolutionary War Record of John Bryant. John and Mary Owsley
Bryant were my gggg grandparents. Their son, James Guerrant
Bryant, was my ggg grandfather.
Apparently FTM has a version with John Bryant married to
Berlinda Owsley or William Bryant married to Mary Owsley, and
this is a mistake. I wish the rest of my family was as well
documented as John Bryant and Mary Owsley Bryant (numerous books
and family records). I frequently get inquiries from people
who are apparently going from the FTM version. It's too bad
someone doesn't correct this.
You have William G. Bryant married to someone else elsewhere on
your great site, My Southern Family. Berlinda Owsley, or "Mary
Berlinda Owsley" as some people are now calling her is not
John's wife. Maybe owsleyfamily.com could help identify who she
truly was. Sincerely, Jean Alexander
FTM Tree #0546, CD #15 - shows also a dau "Berlinda Owsley" as
the spouse of John Bryant. This may be a proper name or just
part of her name. Ancestry.com.

"Louis Augustus Whilden joined the Confederacy on April 15,
1861, at age 28, as a second lieutenant in Capt. Thomas
Pinckney's Company of Independent Mounted Rifleman, S.C.
Volunteers.
He later joined the fifth S.C. Cavalry Regiment and was a
captain when he got shot May 16, 1864, in a battle in which
Confederate forces kept a Union force from moving up the James
River in an attempt to attack Richmond.
The effort to put up a marker for Louis Augustus Whilden started
last fall with 92-year-old J.O. McClellan Jr. of McClellanville.
He is Whilden's great-grandson.
"All my life, I assumed he was buried in Virginia," said
McClellan, who vividly recalls visits during his boyhood by
Whilden's widow, Sarah Claudia Morrison. "When I found out he
was buried there (in Wappetaw Cemetery), I thought about
(getting the gravestone) a few years, but never did anything
about it."
McClellan told his daughter Wilhelmina McClellan Couch that he
wanted to get a gravestone for Whilden. Couch, a member of
United Daughters of the Confederacy, pulled together the
documentation for an official marker and submitted it to the
Department of Veterans Affairs.
Bud Hill, the director of the Village Museum in McClellanville,
said the gravestone is overdue for a man whose family
contributed greatly to the community."
