Aka: 1st Baron. 5th or 6th LORD Berkeley. "Knight, Lord Berkeley, was born at Raglan, co. Monmouth, about 1394. He was nephew and heir male of Thomas de Berkeley, Lord Berkeley. He succeeded to the Castle of Berkeley and other estates under an entail of his great-grandfather, but was much hindered in getting possession thereof by the heir general, his cousin the Countess of Warwick. He was summoned to Parliament 1421. He was married (or contracted to marry) aged sixteen to SAINT JOHN, daughter of John St. John. She died young s.p.. He was married for the second time to ___ STAFFORD, daughter of Humphrey Stafford, Knt., of Hook. She died young s.p..

He was married for the third time in 1423/4 to ISABEL DE MOWBRAY, widow (with one daughter) of HENRY FERRERS, Knt. (died shortly before 5 Dec. 1463 spm., vp.) and first daughter and in her issue co-heiress of Thomas de Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk (descendant of King Edward 1), by Elizabeth (descendant of King Edward 1), daughter of Richard Fitz Alan, Earl of Arundel and Surrey."

These Rileys are settlers of Old Williamsburg Dist. SC along with the McCants, Scotts, Winters, McKneelys who migrated to the new Louisiana Territory (Feliciana) purchased by the US in 1803 and Mississippi Territory, Wilkinson Co. MS. Major Edwin Allen Scott named a son Samuel Riley McKneely.

Cemetery Photo from Wain Reily: "This is the Reily-Lobrano-Simmons Cemetery out side of Centreville, Mississippi. This is on the property that Samuel Reily and his wife Martha Nelson McDonald settled in about 1802. The property of Samuel was once 40,000 acres. Samuel and Martha are buried here. The land where the old home and this cemetery are is owned by the Lobrano Family. The Lobrano's and the Reily's are related going back three generations. Wain Reily E-mail: [email protected]
