ZACKQUILL MORGAN Bishop of Cardiff

1690 - 1760

ID Number: I101542

  • RESIDENCE: Wales
  • BIRTH: 1690
  • DEATH: 1760
  • RESOURCES: See: notes CONFLICT or ERROR [S3676]
Father: CHARLES MORGAN

Notes

Zackquill, son of Charles Morgan: from copy of hand written notes containing data purportedly copied from the archives of the Bishop's Library, in Cardiff, Wales.

CONFLICT:

(c.) ZACKQUILL MORGAN: Bishop of Cardiff. b. 1690. d. 1760.

From: [email protected] To: [email protected] 4 Sep 2004
"I have this Zackquill Morgan. The Zackquill I was looking for was supposedly the uncle of Col. Morgan Morgan and brother of Henry Morgan, the buccaneer. When I checked in the book "Genealogies of Glamorgan" by George T. Clark, Henry wasn't even from the St. Mellon's Morgans. I guess I'll go back and start looking for the ancestors of Col. Morgan Morgan again. This book has the beginning of the Morgans of St.Mellon's, but no mention of Charles Morgan.Thank you."

Subject: [Morgan] Re: Zackquill Morgan b. 1690, Bishop of Cardiff, Wales

"This information is incorrect. I went to Wales and England 2 years ago and contacted the Church of England there was never a Zacquill Morgan that was a minister or bishop of their church. There is no Zacquill related to St. Mellons church, I was there also. This information was listed with the LDS site by a man who has since passed and he had his information all wrong. According to records in Wales there never was a Zacquill there. Probably because Zacquill is not a Welsh name."

Date: 5 Sep 2004 "We are not sure where this person who listed the information on Zacquill b. 1690 received his information but I have found it all to be false. There is a St. Mellons church and there were some Morgans there but no connection to Col. Morgan Morgan. Then someone started listing his father as a Charles Morgan connected with St. Giles of Cripplegate, Church in London. When I checked on this Charles there also was no connection to our Morgan Morgan. I do not believe that his father's name was even Charles. Although Morgan's do not seem to follow all the rules of tradition, I believe we will find his father's name was either Morgan or James. The only problem is it is easier to disprove something than it is easier to prove something. I am leaving for Wales on the 8th for more research. Hoping to get lucky, but the truth is we may never find his parentage. Wales has as many Morgans as America has Smiths!"
