Virginia, In Vol. 1, A Rockaway In Talbot, by Davidson, pages
321-328 there is a lengthy disc ussion about Collinsworth
Institute, its beginnings and development. Let me quote a
paragraph on page 323 that specifically addresses your question.
"The new school was named for John Collinsworth, a Methodist
preacher who was a close friend of Josiah Flournoy. The Rev.
Collinsworth was honored in 1834 by Methodists in Talbot County
who renamed "Menefee's Meeting House," in Red Bone G.M.D. 876,
Collinsworth Chapel, now Collinsworth United Methodist Church.
The Georgia Annual Conference of the Methodist Church was vested
with control of the school, as shown in Georgia Laws, 1838".
Hope this is helpful. The entire article is very interesting and
mentions a number of names of individuals involved but does not
have a membership list. Pat Rose in CA ----- Original Message

Subject: [GATALBOT] Methodist Church ??? If anyone has the
Rockaway volumes that might deal with this church, please help
me identify it. Collinsworth Chapel is mentioned in There Was a
Land....and indicates a deed Jan 1, 1837 Robert M. Smith 23 Dist
LL287-288 Society members: in 1834 George Minifee, Richard
Minifee, James Callier and wife, etc. So I thought there might
be a connection and that the deed below might be an earlier one
for the Minifee's meeting House...Ypsilanti or Redbone community
=========== > ??Collingsworth Chapel Area - Minifee's meeting
house ??

"William2 Terrell (Robert1 ) was born 22 Jun 1629 in Reading,
England.
The TYRRELL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY has proven to their
satisfaction that William, brother of Richmond was a merchant in
London England all his life. He is credited with two children; a
son William, and a daughter Martha. His son, William, may have
bee the immigrant and father of the William who is said to have
married Susannah Waters.
