By order of probate on September 23, 1793, Jane's dower land (as the widow of William Asberry) was allotted to her. The line began at William Leak's corner and ran to Reuben Triplett's line. See Fauquier County WB:2-281, 287, 330.


Jane Asbury later moved with her sons and daughters across the mountains to Harrison County, (1863 West)Virginia, where she died sometime after 1800.

Richard "the Cavalier" Lee, born 1613 in Nordley Regis, Coton, Schrops, England; died March 1, 1664 in Dividing Creek, Northumberland, VA. He was the son of John Lee and Jane Hancock. He married Anna Constable Owen 1641.


Emigrated to York Co. VA from Shropshire, England in 1641. Burgess, Secretary of the Council, and a Justice. Is said to have been the first white man to settle in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Married Anna_______.

"Richard arrived in Jamestown in 1639 or 1640,

Called "The Cavalier"; came to VA in 1641; served as secretary of state under Gov. Sir John HARVY; was the King's counsellor; became a large landowner in both York and Westmoreland counties; also served as Colonial secretary of VA under Sir William BERKELY; was member of Council and a justice.
