Finch Scruggs and his wife Nancy moved with their first five children from Virginia to Tennessee in 1804 and settled on the place afterwards called Nashville. Subsequently they moved to Davidson County, Tennessee, from there to the City of Franklin. He died in Tishomingo County, Mississippi August 28, 1863 at the advanced age of ninety-one years and his wife Nancy died April 8, 1868 at the age of ninety-five years.
