A Robert Packer received a grant of 74 acres in Charleston May 6, 1811 (State Grants, Vol. 74, p. 252). Will, proved in Monroe Co, AL, Nov 3, 1823, and dated Sep 20, 1823 named wife Elizabeth, brother Samuel and children David, Samuel, Thomas, Mary, Susannah, Robert, James and John. Final settlement of estate was made Mar 6, 1843 to (1) David Packer, (2) Samuel Packer's heirs Elijah Powell, James Welch, David Packer, (3) Thomas Packer's heirs, Mary Jane, Ann and James Packer, (4)John W. Foster, husband of Mary Packer, (5) James M. Powell, husband of Ann (Susannah), (6) Robert Packer, (7) James Packer, (8) John Packer, (9) Joseph Packer, a posthumous child. Robert's oldest sons, twins David and Samuel were born in 1804 in SC.


Some descendants have stated Robert arrived in Alabama as early as 1800, he first appears in Alabama records on Aug 5, 1819 when he entered or patented land (Cert. #52)


In 1860 in Monroe Co, AL household #245 was William T. McCants; #244 was Robert Packer, Age 30, and Sarah 17 (Sarah was the dau of James L. Nettles and Sarah Ann McCants, dau of John); # 243 was David Packer, 30 and Mary, 23. [S11]
