"Charles City County Courthouse Wills.....The last Will &
Testament of Philip C. Buffin of the Co of Charles City & State
of VA
ITEM 1: I give and bequeath to my wife, Jane H. Buffin, all my
real and personal estate, to use in any way she may choose for
her support, cut cord wood, railroad ties and etc. for and
during her natural life.
ITEM 2: After the death of my wife, the said Jane H. Buffin, I
give in fee simple, the tract of land on which I now reside,
containing 208 acres, be the same more or less, to my daughter
Josephine T. Ware, with the condition that she is to pay $100 to
my granddaughter, Janie W. Brackett.
ITEM 3: At the death of my wife, I give to my said granddaughter
Janie W. Brackett, one cow.
ITEM 4: After the death of my wife, I give to my grandson Willie
C. Brackett, to him and his heirs forever, the whole of my
fathers (Giles C. Buffin) old tract of land, containing 60 acres
be the same more or less, and bounded North by the lands of
WYATT, South by main road, East by the lands of Beverly Carter
and West by the lands of Mayo and Ford. I also give to my said
grandson Willie C. Brackett, after the death of my wife, one
cow, one black mule called LIZZIE and one bay mare called Ida,
to him and his heirs forever.
ITEM 5: After the death of my wife, whatever personal property
may be left, after paying the special legacies afore-mentioned,
I desire to be sold and the money used from the sale therof, to
be equally divided per capita, between the children of my two
daughters, Josephine T. Ware and Emma S. Brackett, deceased,
with the exception of Janie W. Brackett and Willie C. Brackett,
already provided for.
ITEM 6: After paying my debts, I give my ready money, chooses in
action and etc. to my wife Jane H. Buffin, absolutely.
ITEM 7: I appoint my wife, Jane H. Buffin, Exect. of this my
last will anad testement and earnestly request that the court
will permit her to qualify without requiring security. Signed
