Washington Hickerson moved (in covered wagons) from Coffee county, Tennessee to McLenna(on) County, Texas, where he settled on a large plantation and became the father of 16 children, 11 of whom married and reared sizeable families. Among the grandchildren of this Washington Hickerson is John Dewey Hickerson, on the State Department, Washington, D.C. recently appointed a member of the U. S. Canadian Defense Board.

Bennett Pemberton was the son of Charles Pemberton of Carolina County, Virginia. Bennett's sister, Delphia, married Larkin Garnett in 1770, and after his death in 1772, she married Henry Gatewood. It is more than likely that Bennett Pemberton married about the same period and, perhaps, in Carolina County.

Margaret (on behalf of herself and two sons, Thos. and Wm. Tureman, both under age), and the sd. Pemberton and Mary, his wife, do for the sum of £100 curr., convey 200 a. in Berkeley Par., Spots.
