On 6 February 1764 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Moore was
appointed Constable for the Upper precinct of Lunenburg Parish
between Monocon Mill and Charles Bronson for the ensuing year.
On 7 August 1769 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Jesse Thornton,
planter, and his wife Hannah of Lunenburg Parish, Richmond Co.
to Moore Bragg, planter, of same. £75.12.6 current money of
Virginia for a tract of land in county aforesaid, of 103 acres,
part of a larger tract formerly in the possession of Wm Thornton
dec'd, father of the said Jesse, and descended to Jesse as heir
to his father. Witnesses Matthew Kelley and Charles Bragg.
On 6 August 1770 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Jesse Thornton,
planter, and Hannah his wife of Lunenburg Parish, Richmond Co.,
to Moore Bragg of same. £25 current money, for a tract
containing 50 ac. down the said run to Wm Bragg's line.
Witnesses Thomas Omohundro, Benjamin Burress and Edmond Walker.
On 1 May 1780 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Moore Bragg & Sarah his
wife of Parish of Lunenburg & county of Richmond sold to William
Bragg, son of said Moore & Sarah, a tract of land purchased of
Jesse Thornton, now deceased, containing 103 acres.
On 1 March 1784 at Lunenburg Parish, Richmond Co., Virginia,
Moore Bragg, planter and Sarah his wife sold to Richard Asbury,
for £100 current money of VA, a tract of land lying in the
county of Richmond, containing 133 1/2 acres, beginning at a
hickory tree on the line of Sir Jonathan Beckwith's land whereon
John Jone's widow now lives ... thence along Thomas's line to
Pantico Run near the said Bragg's Mill to a chestnut oak.
Recorded 5 April 1784.
On 1 September 1784 at Lunenburg Parish, Richmond Co., Virginia,
Moore Bragg gave for the love and affection which I have for my
son William Bragg, grant him all that parcel of land in the
county of Richmond whereon I now live containing 150 acres, "...
except he the said Moore Bragg retains the possesion of the said
tract of land during his life without any consideration ever to
be made for the rent thereof to the said William Bragg.
Witnesses; Thomas Franklin, Daniel Connollee, William Jackson.
Recorded 6 Sep 1784.
On 4 September 1784 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Moore Bragg &
Sarah his wife to Vincent Redman, for £200, do grant all the
parcels of land "purchased by me of the late William Bragg &
Jesse Thornton as will appear by their deeds bearing date in
month of July & Aug 1770," lying part in the parish of Cople and
County of Westmoreland and part in the parish of Lunenburg and
County of Richmond, about 100 acres. Witnesses Thomas Franklin,
Daniel Connollee, William Jackson and John Hall.
Moore made a will on 20 August 1788 at Richmond Co., Virginia,
which, mentions wife; sons, William, James, Matthew; dau's.
Rebecca and Ann; grandson William Bragg; after wife's death,
estate to be sold and the money equally divided between five
children.
On 15 July 1789 at Richmond Co., Virginia, Moore stated " for
the natural love and affection which I bear to my son James
Bragg"" plus 5 shillings, give one negro woman named Winney and
her increase.
Moore's estate was probated on 2 January 1792 at Richmond Co.,
Virginia.
