SIWARD Earl of Northumbria

ABT 0978 - ____

ID Number: I52792

  • RESIDENCE: SCT
  • BIRTH: ABT 0978, Scotland
  • RESOURCES: See: LDS (AFN: FLGZ-65) [S1905] [S3107]
Father: BIORN STYRBIORNSON

Family 1 :
  1. +SYBIL FITZ_SIWARD of Northumbria

Notes

"In 1054, Siward, the Danish earl of Northumbria, a close connection of the family of Duncan,7 led an army into Scotland against Macbeth, in the interests of Duncan's son, Malcolm, and perhaps at the instance of Edward, King of England.8 Although not then successful in recovering the central kingdom, Siward succeeded in confirming Malcolm as ruler of all that portion of Scotland south of the Clyde and Forth.9 Siward died in 1055, however, and Malcolm was not able to push his cause further until 1057."

Notes

The old James Anderson farm (around the north bank of the north branch of Stepstone Creek, far eastern Montgomery co., KY) is typical for central Kentucky. Rolling, undulating hills, farmland, fields. It is chopped up into quite a few small farms - mostly cattle farms, some may raise a little tobacco. Stepstone creek is tiny - 20 feet across at it's widest. North branch 5-10 feet at it's widest.

I was going through my genealogy box the other day and "found" a photocopy from "Manakin Huguenot Society" Nos. 1-7, KY Historical Society Library 284.5/H874m in which is a very detailed record of James and Jane Anderson family. per Wallace [email protected]

James died in 1830 in Adams County, Illinois, near Lima or Marceline. He left his wife and two minor children, James H. and Julian(a). My 2nd great grandfather administered the estate and the guardian for the children was the husband of James' daughter Jane, William G. Flood, a prominent figure in Adams Co. history. per Carol [email protected] [S1447]
