or John Sandidge, born 1728-1730, St. George's Parish,
Spotsylvania County, Virginia; died June 15, 1805, Amherst
County, Virginia
Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 From: "Earl H. Higginbotham"
Subject: Higginbotham-Sandidge connection
SEE - "Tylers Quarterly Magazine - Vol 27 - 1945-46".
Probate record (estate) extracts of John and Keziah Sandidge -
names five sons and eight daughters. The following three had
Higginbotham connections.
1) WILLIAM SANDIDGE, the eldest son married August 19, 1783,
Tamasin Cash, widow of Robert Howard Cash, and daughter of Capt.
Aaron and Clara (Graves) Higginbotham, of Amherst county.
2) DOLLY SANDIDGE, married prior to 1784, William Higginbotham.
3) ANN SANDIDGE, married William Higginbotham, a cousin to the
William who married her sister Dolly. Ann was dead at the time
of her father's death.
In his will, John Sandidge desired that her (Ann) part of his
estate be "Equally divided amongst her children: Dolly, Fanny,
Agey, Warner, Betsy, and Ann Higginbotham."
I would place the validity of information found in "Tylers
Quarterly", right up there with "William and Mary Quarterly"
magazine. We all know that any of them can be wrong!
The only way to learn about the true lineage of your family is
through basic, time consuming, difficult, and often costly,
research. Regardless of how many times the errors of others are
repeated, it will never bring you one step closer to learning
the facts. It does, however, tend to confuse the legitimate
research effort considerably.
Just an observation from years of research
experience..............
Earl Higginbotham
