He lived for many years near Island Creek, a small stream taking its rise in a pond of that name, which has been described as "a fine sheet.... situate in the East central part of Duxbury, Mass." He was quite an extensive land owner for his time, his personal estate having been appraised at o736-16-5, besides which he owned broad lands in other towns, his territorial holdings lapping over upon the District of Maine as was proven by his will and the legacies for his sons. See following. This Moses Soule was ancestor of the Yarmouth and Freeport families.

On September 12, 1707, the town of Duxbury, Mass granted him "six-seven of the town common adjoining the lot he now dwells on." On August 3, 1737, he was an agent to agree with Rowson. In 1739 he was a committeeman. In 1740 he was a juryman. The following information has been procured relating to the settlement of his estate:

To Samuel Seabury, George Partridge. Abraham Sampson, Jonathan Peterson and Daniel Lewis, Esqrs, of Probate, all in the County of Plymouth, Greetings:

You are hereby Impowered and directed to take a just and equal division of the estate of Moses Soule, late of Duxbury, Mass aforesaid, yeoman, deceased, died seized of, into ten equal parts or shares, and assign to Isaac Soule oldest son, 2-10; to Cornelius Soule 1-10: to Barnabas Soule 1-10; to Abigail Soule, daughter, and only child of Ichabod Soule 1-10; to Gidion Soule, 1-10; to Jedediah Soule, 1-10; to Ruth Soule, 1-10; to Elsie, wife of Barnabas Berry, 1-10; to Deborah Hunt, 1-10; and you are to assign and set off the same by meet and just bounds, so that each of said heirs may hold their parts or shares as aforesaid: and you are to make returns hereof under your hands and upon your oath unto myself, as soon as you can.

Given under my hand and seal this 7th of August 1750 in Plymouth.

Cornelius has 27 and 3-4 acres in lot No. 18, Duxbury, Mass.
Barnabas has 16 acres at Island Creek Pond, Duxbury, Mass.
Abigail (daughter of Ichabod) has 19 acres on lot No. 17, Duxbury, Mass.
Gideon has 25 acres in Upland and Meadow where Moses lived.
Jedediah has three acres of salt meadow, Duxbury, Mass.
Ruth has 3 1-4 acres of salt meadow, Duxbury, Mass.
Elsie (Berry) 3 1-2 acres of salt meadow, Duxbury, Mass.
Deborah (Hunt) has 14 acres of upland in Lot No. 2, Duxbury, Mass.

Rice Curtis Vass, born 1750, died 1815, married an Ann, in 1772, and a Peggy, in 1784.
(In the records of Spotsylvania, Va, will book D, page 76, it states that John Cathrae, guardian to Rice Vass, orphan of Philip V. Vass, with Edward Herndon and Oliver Towles, sec. Sept 10, 1770).
