All six sons and two sons-in-law served in the Confederate Army:
John Hunt Morgan, Ambrose Hill and Basil Duke as Generals,
Richard as a Colonel, Charlton Morgan as a Captain, Thomas as a
sergeant.
Thomas Hunt Morgan was the first to give his life for that
cuase, at Lebanon, Kentucky on July 5, 1863, aged 19. John Hunt
Morgan was killed at Greenville, Tennessee on September 4, 1864.
Finally Catherine Grosh Hunt's second husband, Ambrose P. Hill,
died near Petersburg, virginia on April 2, 1865.
