Other information was obtained by another person from the family
bible of grandson, Phillip F. Wash, DAR information, Lewis Co,
MO, marriage records
and Irma Chandler letters.
John Wash Sr. served in the American Revolution from GA., NC.,
and VA.
He lived with Nancy Frazier Gatewood in Henry Co., VA until 1800
and moved to
Cumberland Valley, KY, in 1805. After Nancy's death in 1818, he
married his second wife in Missouri where he died. John has a
manuscript describing his battles and everything he did in the
Revolution. He had to give a written account to get his pension.

From letter by Rosa Wash: John Wash, Sr., first enlisted as a
volunteer under Col. Sherwood Rogy in the Continental Army at
Augusta, GA. He then acted as issuing commissary in the Florida
Expedition under Gen. John Huston for two months. In dec. of the
next year while living in Henry Co., VA he volunteered under
Capt. Richard Graham & Col. Frederick Hambright and served until
Marcy, 1780. Soon after this he substituted as Lieut. in an
expedition to Lanneau's Ferry, where he joined the North
Carolina Militia under Gen. Caswell, but finding no Lieut.
vacancy at the camp, was directed to Gen. Rutherford at
Salisbury. His tour expired after three months.
BURIED ON SON, JOHN'S FARM IN MAYWOOD, MO. GRAVE MARKED AND
FENCED IN BY DAR.

John Wash was b 1751 in Virginia and died 1839 in Missouri. Does
anyone know if John and Nancy Frazier Gatewood had a daughter
named Patience? If not, who are her parents? She was b 1780 in
VA and married James Ray in Stokes Co., NC. They lived in Henry
Co., VA
