IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, THIS 10th day of July, year of our
Lord 1762, I, MOSES PEARSON, of Craven County, and Province of

be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of
my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to

to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the
discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting but at the General

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I HAVE HEREUNTO SET MY HAND.
(signed) MOSES PEARSON
WITNESSES; WALTER FOLEY-------WILLIAM CHERRY---------JOHN
FREEMAN,JR.
PROVED: MAY 25,1763
Attended a Primitive Baptist church in Johnston Co., (later Wake
Co.), just south of
Raleigh,NC, called the Three Creeks Bapitist church, which was
in the Kehukee Association. The Rev. Mr. John Moore,Jr. was the
minister. Some where nearby was "Moses Pearson's Branch".
Moses Pearson, Sr appears to have been in old Craven County
(N.C.) sometime in the 1745-1755 time.. maybe just a little bit
earlier... His brother Samuel lived in what is now called Wake
County... but was formerly Craven/Johnston County.. Moses's name
is found in deed documents of Johnston County..Some early
records were lost in the area with several courthouse
fires...compounded with the creation of Dobbs County (a short
lived County)... records are lost....essential records relating
to our line.
It was once believed that Moses Sr migrated from the Northern
Neck area of Virginia
and was part of the Pearson family of Stafford County,
Virginia... He may yet be connected to this family, but I
believe we have sufficient proof (record of Birth) to tie him to
Simon Pearson of Baltimore County Maryland.
the elder Moses Pearson was born May 21, 1716 in Baltimore
County, Maryland. His birth is documented in local Parish
Records. His father was Simon Pearson of Baltimore Co. ,
Maryland... and Sarah Thurston Shaw Pearson. Moses was the
eldest of his siblings. He had a sister named Comfort who
remained in Maryland and married a John Everett. The youngest
was Samuel Pearson who later resided in Craven/Johnston Co. NC.
There were several other siblings.... and some from a previous
marriage of Simons... Sarah deserted Simon in 1724, just after
the birth of Samuel, and very little is known of the Pearson
family until Samuel and Moses show up in North Carolina records.
It appears that most of the children were raised by their
mother... but we can not prove that...
Moses I first came to Marlboro Co.SC from Johnston Co.NC which
is where he was with his brother. . Moses migrates to the Pee
Dee area, sometime prior to 1759... probably not too much before
then... the earliest record that I have of him or his family
members being in the Pee Dee is 1759... with Aaron and Moses
(jr) being in Capt Kolbs Company ... expedition to Fort Prince
George (French and Indian War)... documented in records at the
SC Archives...
Aaron is reported as being approximately two years older that
Moses... but we have found no birth records for any of their
generation... or that of their children...With Moses being born
in 1716.... he probably would have been 18 years of age when he
married...and adding a year.. or so... would put Aaron's birth
at 1735-36 and that of Moses jr ..two years later. This would
seem to coincide with their ages for military service... taking
1759 as a reference and counting back 18-20 years from the age
of the youngest... Moses...
Aaron married Winifred Spears ... and Moses is reported as
having married Rachel Blair."
