From "Early Times in Clinton Co.," Jack Ferguson "Clinton county's William Hunter, Sr.,...came to this county in the early 1800's. He was given a 300 acre grant on the middle fork of Indian creek in 1806. The 1831 tax list shows nearly 1,000 acres in Russell, Wayne, and
Cumberland counties on Indian Creek. The family home was just across from what is now Grider Hill Boat Dock. The land where the house stood is now under the waters of Lake Cumberland."
