1823 April, Caswell Co, N.C., Will BK I, pgs 205 and 206 probate
of Will of John Kimbrough, bequeaths to "my son James Kimbrough,
one hundred and thirteen acres of land, one negro girl named
Agness to him and his heirs forever which land and negro he has
heretofore received,---
Lastly, I give and bequeath to sons James Kimbrough, William
Kimbrough, the heirs of my son Thomas Kimbrough and Nancey
Graves, all the residue of my property of what kind soever, not
before bequeathed, as well as that part of my property loaned to
my wife Mary at her death or marriage".
John Kimbrow/Kimbrough was the son of Thomas Kimbrough of Louisa
Co,Virginia, and Eleanor, the daughter of Thomas and Anne Graves
of Spotsylvania Co, Virginia. Thomas Kimbrough's will was
probated in Caswell County in December of 1777.
"The 1780 tax list of Goucester District, Caswell Co. lists the
assets of John Kimbrow with the notation 'John Kimbrow now
prisoner with the English.' John Kimbow, Private, was listed
among the prisoners of war in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on 23
April 1782, from N.N. Hunter's Company, North Carolina
Volunteers. When John Kimbrough died in 1823, in Caswell County,
his heirs were wife Mary and children James, Sarah,Thomas, John,
Nancy, Frances, William, Pasty and Tabatha." From The Heritage
