From [email protected] "Update 9/28/01 In the information above,
further research shows that Mahala MIDDLETON was the daughter of
Willis MIDDLETON instead of John MIDDLETON." "My data says:
Abraham Buckholtz (Jr.) born 1778 in SC, died 1853 Adams Co.,
MS. Changed his name to Abram Buckles in 1800-1810 (according to
W. Leroy Moffett, family researcher). Buried at Section 49, T7N,
R1W at "Possum Farm", Leesdale, in Buckles Cemetery. Married
Mahala Middleton, daughter of John Middleton, early settler on
the Homochitto River near Meadville, MS. She died 1825.
According to W. Leroy Moffett, "it is possible Mahala was a
Duncan and not a Middleton. Abram bought land from Reuben Gibson
in Adams Co., MS. He supported the Piercy (sic, Pierce's) Creek
Baptist Church"."
