1840 and 1850 census in Jefferson Co. KY. Article in the Louisville Times, 24 Sep 1953 entitled "James Trabue". James Trabue came to Louisville in 1834 & entered the firm of Jarvis, Trabue & Curd, merchants. In 1856 he built the second house to be built on Chestnut St. & it stood until 1930. by 1856 he was head of a wholesale dry goods firm, "James Trabue & Co.". He was a director of the L&N RR and Bank of KY, a trustee of the Univeristy of Louisville, for 30 years president of Franklin Insurance Co. In 1870 he sold the Chestnut St. property for $50,000 and moved to Walnut St. where he remained until his death.
