Loose Hodges in Cumberland. These children on this record may or
may not be kin, except for William who is the brother of gf John
in Long Bluff, Old Cheraw, SC.
The Colonial Legislature passed an act in 1754 which resulted in
the political division of Bladen County, thus forming Cumberland
County.

The Marlboro Co. SC records suggest three related families. One
including brothers John, Edmund and Joseph. One including
Philemon and William. One including Isham, Joab, Welcome, and
Mark. Although Welcome does not appear in the 3rd S.C. Regt.,
he served in the militia, and otherwise is associated with Isham
in the Marlboro records. Other Hodges appearing with militia
service from the Marlboro area include Robert Hodges, Joseph and
John Hodges.
