Broomfield Walden, who traced his ancestors back to the

Shortly after 1810, they left Robeson County for Marion County,
Mississippi where they settled 7 miles below Columbia on the
Pearl River, and built a large house, later bought by the
Foxworth family. They owned more than 60 slaves. They were
buried on their plantation where their headstones look down on
the old, silent city. Senator John Stennis of Mississippi is a
descendant of Silas Drake. There were four children by the
first marriage.
