Notes

From a letter to my grandfather, Col. James McCutchen, from his cousin George McCutchen III, dated 7 Jan 1857. Speaking of the brother of their grandmother Mary Scott: "William was married twice. His second wife was Cousin Jane Dick's mother.....He had three children by this last wife - Sarah, Jane, and Elizabeth." (Jane is elsewhere called Janet. She married John Dick. Her mother was Mary Baxter.)
