Notes

CSA -Muster Rolls from 1862-Jul 1865- Detailed as Regimental Wagoner. Family paper by Mrs. David Coney (Eula) May 1966, age 89, from information given to her by David Aquilla Coney during a visit in her home two weeks in June before his death in Nov 1924.

" Enlisted at Holmesville, MS May 4, 1861 under Col. Preston Brent, Company K. 38 Mississippi Brent Rifles. He served under Generals Price, Pemberton and Nathan Bedford Forest during the war. He was at the seige of Vicksburg, was wounded many times, but not severely. He was mustered out at Selma Alabama April 4, 1865 under General N. B. Forest.

The family moved to Conway Arkansas while most of the children were still young, except Lucy who had married Nelson Ellzey and was living near Adams Church east of Brookhaven in Lincoln Co. MS. The Children as they grew older came back to Mississippi and settled in Johnston where John who had come back earlier was living at that time. Josephus went to Texas and lived there several years, came back to Mississippi but only stayed three years, moving back to Texas.

David Aquilla and his wife moved to Johnston Station in 1895 buying a home and farmed, the house was later burned. In May 1924 a cyclone struck Johnston destroying the home of Henry Eugene where David Aquilla was living. He was injured which was the main cause of his death that same year. The American Red Cross later rebuilt Henry's home which is still occupied by his daughter Norma Gene and her husband Gordon Willoughby. (Father of David Qauilla was named Louis)."

David Aquilla Coney bought land on hill from Ophelia Dickerson, Mrs. W. H. Dickerson in 1905, acknowledged 5 Mar 1905. She was dau of B. A. Crawford. He later sold some of the land to Mr. Sam E. Carrut. B.A. Crawford, 1899.
