"Apparently in financial straits, Peter D. Sublett of Amelia on September 24, 1825 "being desirous to make provision for the support of his wife Nancy Sublett and her children" sold to John Wingo (Nancy's father) a negro girl and "one third part of 230 acres of land laying in the State of Ohio on the Small Miamena [i.e. the Little Miami River] near Seesars Creek in about three miles of Wainesville, Warren Co.


On June 8, 1827, 'Peter D. Sublett and Nancy his wife of the County of Amelia" sold to Jesse Drake or Warren Co., Ohio, "part of a track entered in the name of John Harriss and patented to the heirs of James Smith who was assignee of said Harriss in the Virginia Military reservations? between the Little Miami and Sciota [i.e. Scioto] Rivers."

John Turner married second to Catherine Cheeks Butler by whom he had three children;
John Jackson,
Minerva and
Levitha.


John moved with his family to Williamson Co.,Tenn. The first time his name appears on the tax books there was in 1826. His brother, James, had moved in the same county about 1807."


Shirley Hassler Hern prepared a family history for Henry Turner and his children.
She reported that John was killed by a sixteen year old slave boy by the name of Charley, in Tennessee. Charley used an axe on John. The boy was later convicted and executed for the murder.


The Deeds of Bedford Co., Tennessee, record the transfer of John's property on January 13 , 1829 to William Turner, his son. It was registered August 9, 1829.
