Subject: Lawrence Harrison Research
Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004
While doing research on William Brooks of Pennsylvania and
Frederick County, Maryland, I came across records of a sale of
land between George Washington and Lawrence Harrison (listed as
WilliamBrooks Father-in-law). The property was near Spring
Garden Pennsylvania along Braddocks road. It was listed as the
Great Meadows property and was the site where GW had started the
French and Indian War. William Crawford purchased the land for
George Washington and wrote him two letters about the
transactions between Harrison, Brooks and GW. See Papers of
George Washington, Colonial Series; volume 8, pages 406, 445,
446; W.W. Abbott ed., et. al.
I am trying to construct Williams first 31 years of life; he
joined the Maryland militia in 1776, but everything before that
is unknown. He may have been married to Lawrence Harrison's
daughter, then later remarried (his documented wife was named
Nancy - maiden name unknown). Tim Brooks

David Womack settled by 1761 in that part of North Carolina,
(Orange County) which became Caswell County in 1777, and lived
in one of the sections, (Nash District), that became Person
County in 1791.
By 1771 he had married Mildred Pryor, as proved by will of John
Pryor, her father, dated 1771, Orange County, North Carolina.
David Womack sold out in 1784, and left North Carolina, probably
living in the northwest part of South Carolina before settling
in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana." Same edition of WOMACK
GENEALOGY, on outside front page, gives as proof that the said
David Womack, husband of Mildred Pryor, was the son of Richard
Womack and Nancy Childers, a Photostat of the Family Record,
from the Old Bible of Abraham Womack, Jr., of Greensburg, St.
Helena Parish, La., son of Abraham Womack, (Sr.) son of David
Womack and Mildred Pryor."
