Thomas Martin in his letter To The Md, Historical Soc regarding
The above named article proves the origin of Thomas Gerard.
However, the letter is about Frances Gerard's 5th husband,
William Hardwick. He proves that she married William Hardwick,
Jr. and that there were two William Hardwicks, father and son.
It was the son who came to America and married Frances Gerard.
See quotes from this letter under William Hardwick Sr.
Actually the Martin letter, clearly points out that this is the
Hardwick that was supposed to go to Virginia when he was 21, so
obviously he went back to England with his parents. His
connections with the Pope's, Washington's etc. are connected by
this letter."
