Stephney Parish, County Middlesex, England. Children listed
were: John Fox, Jr., Isabell, Stephen, Thomas, Peter, Mary and
William. John Fox was a merchant and commanded the "Whitehorse
and Currycomb," the "Thomas and Anne," and the "Elizabeth"
(?).(Research):LDS has his name as John and WFT CD #3 has him
named as Thomas."
WFT CD #3 est birth date as 1559-1602 and death date as
1599-1683 and marriage date as 1585-1638.

Have given as many births and deaths as could be obtained.
The 2nd William Whitfield md wife Rachel Bryan moved to the
"Rich Lands" on the Neuse River in Lenoir Co., N. C., and lived
at Rockford on the North bank of the river, he afterwards
purchased White Hall now "Seven Springs" in Wayne county from
Buckskin Williams father of (Gov. Ben and John Pugh Williams)
and brother of Old Ben Williams. Buckskin Williams kept an
Indian Store at White Hail until 1776. Soon after the battle of
Moore's Creek bridge in March, William Whitfield moved to
Pleasant Plains, three miles from White Hall, his sons Needham
and William were in the battle of "Moore 's Creek Bridge,"
Needham was the Clerk to Col. Casswell, who commanded the Whigs,
William was a private in the Light Horse, he and his
brother-in-law Daniel Williams, took prisoner General McDonald,
Commander of the Tories; William and Needham Whitfield also took
prisoner in the same battle Farquard Campbell. After the war was
over Farquard Campbell married Elizabeth Smith widow of
Alexander Smith and sister of the captors and by his wife
Elizabeth Smith had three sons James, William md Robert. Robert
Campbell married Flora
William Whitfield III (son of William and Rachel Whitfield and
1st, Nester Williams, daughter of Joseph Williams of Duplin Co.,
and had issue, (1) William Whitfield IV, md. Mary Beck, (2) Mary
md. Bilckner Killebrew, (3) Bryan md., 1st, Miss Miller, 2nd
Miss Grady, (4) Joseph md. Miss Grady, (5) Needham md. Miss
Nevill, (6) Lewis md. Miss Wimberly, (7) Betsy md. John Keatly,
(8) Rachel md., 1st, John Hurst, 2nd, Joseph Miller, (9) Sallie
md. 1st, Thomas Collier (brother of Probast Collier), 2nd Mr.
St. George (10, 11, 12 and 13) died in infancy; Wm. Whitfield
III md., 2nd, Mrs. Sallie Hurst (daughter of Sallie Oliver) and
had issue (14, 15 and 16) died in infancy; William Whitfield III
md., 3rd, Hepsibah Hatch issue (17) Hatch Whitfield md. his
cousin Hepsibah (daughter of Needham and Betsy Hatch Whitfield;
(17) a son; William Whitfield III md., 4th, Sallie Hatch
(daughter of Lemuel Hatch) issue, (18) Charles died young, (19)
infant died (20) Lemuel born July 20th, 1798, md. Ann Sasser
(sister of John and Henry Sasser) (21) Benjamin born 1800, md

Green), (23) Lucy born 1803, died 1835, (24) Harriet born 1805,
died 1844, md. James F. Kornegay, of Wayne County, N. C., (25)

born Ap'l 28th, 1813, md., 1st Margaret Fort, 2nd Demetria
Meredith Jones, 3rd Lucy Gray. (29) George Whitfield md. Mary
Johnston. (30) William Alexander md. Helen Jones, daughter of
Seth Jones of Wake County, N. C. William Whitfield III had forty
descendants in the Confederate Army. He lived, died, and was
buried at his home Rockford on Neuse River, Wayne County, N. C.

Hatch, daughter of Edmond Hatch, had issue (1) Rachel Whitfield
born 1781, and John Thomas Bryan and had issue, (2) Lucy born
Nov. 18, 1783, md. Allen Wooten. (3) Sally born 1785 and
Benjamin Hatch and died. (4) William born June 15th 1897, and
Ann Turner; (5) Needham born June 2 1st, 1789, and Alice Hall
nee James; Needham Whitfield I md 2nd Betsey Hatch sister of his
first wife Lucy, issue, (6) Hepsibah born 1792, died unmarried,
(7) - Edmund born 1793, md 1st. Susan (daughter of Genl. William
Croom) died at Aberdeen, Miss., Sept. 13th, 1867, md 2nd
Penelope Holmes; Needham Whitfield I md 3rd Sally Watkins
(daughter of Levin Watkins and Edith Hilliard of Duplin Co., N.
C.) issue (8 and 9) both girls died in infancy, (10) Edith
Whitfield born 1799 and Allen Whitfield and died. (11) Betsy
born Feb'y 9th, 1801 and her cousin Nathan Bryan Whitfield Feb'y
16, 1819, died Nov. 4th, 1846; William Whitfield I md 4th,
Penelope, widow of Col. William Bush and had issue, (12) Gaines
born Nov. 15th, 1844, md, Mary Ann Whitfield, (daughter of Bryan
Whitfield and Winnefred Bryan), (13) Boaz Whitfield born May
10th, 1806, died unmarried; Needham Whitfield I died April 6th,
1812, and was buried at White Hall, Wayne Co., N. C.

(daughter of Needham and Nancy Smith Bryan) issue, (1) Bryan
Whitfield, md Elizabeth Turner, (2.) Needham Whitfield (died ),
(3) Rachel md 1st Nathan Bryan, 2nd Wiliam Herring, (4) Nancy md
John Cobb, (5) Betsy and Genl. Wm. Croom had issue and died,
after the death of Nancy, Bryan Whitfield md 2nd Winnefred
(daughter of Col. Nathan and Winnefred Bryan), issue (6) Nathan
Bryan Whitfield born Sept. 19th, 1799, and Feb'y 16th 1819, his
cousin Betsey (daughter of Needham and Sally Watkins Whitfield),
issue, Nathan Bryan Whitfield md 2nd Bettie (daughter of John
and Mary Slade Whitfield), he died in 1865. (7) Lewis Whitfield,
died young. (8) George Whitfield born June, 1804, and Louisa
Blackledge (daughter of Genl. Wiliam Blackledge of Newberne
N.C.), after her Death he married Miss Mary Brown and 3rd Mrs.
Winnie Higgs. (J) James Bryan Whitfield born May 23rd, 1809,
died 1841, md Sallie Wooten (daughter of Lucy Whitfield and
Allen Wooten) they had issue, (10) Winnefred Bryan Whitfield,
born Oct 17th, 1812, md her cousin Richard Croom, had issue,
died Oct. 1st, 1848. (11) Mary Ann born Sept. 21st, 1817 md her
cousin Gaines Whitfield July 15th, 1834, had issue, Bryan
Whitfield died June 23rd.

* We presume that the name Lucy descended from Lucy Richards of
Edenton; who married Edmund Hatch March 15th, 1742-3. (The Hatch
family of N. C., descended from Anthony Hatch of Perquimans
county, N. C.; they intermarried with the Durants' early in the
18th Century and possibly before 1700.
