Wife, Mary Chew; grandson, Larkin Smith, that part of my tract
of land purchased of Bushrod Fauntleroy and others, down to the
lower corner of the land whereon Dorothy Foster, widow, now
lives, including the small tract I purchased of John Waller,
Junr. Joseph Brock and Rice Curtis.
In the event of my dying, without issue, then to all the
children my daughter, Mary Towles, may leave alive at her death.
Grandsons, William Stanard and Larkin Smith; all my
grandchildren, meaning those to be born as well as those now
alive, of my said two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary.
Land in Orange Co., also remainder of my tract of land adjoining
Benjamin Johnson in this county, part of which I have sold to
William Pemberton, and whereas I have become purchaser of a
piece of land in which William Hudson, Blacksmith, had the
equitable and Joseph Hawkins, of this county, decd. the legal
title therein, which piece of land I have promised the said
Hudson again, providing he pay the debt due from him to me, my
executors to refer any dispute or controversies, should any
arise, to the determination of my friends Col. Fielding Lewis,
Mr. Roger Dixon and Mr. Thomas Fox, who are gentlemen in my
opinion of great probity and integrity.
A codicil to the above will dated Apr. 6, 1770, and witnessed by
Robert Stubblefield, W. Dawson and Larkin Chew, Junr., mentions
grandchildren (no names given) and my daughters Elizabeth and
Mary; mentions William Dawson, who has lived with me some years
as Overseer, a suit of mourning for his fidelity and kindness to
me during my illness. (Page 431)

ii. Georgeanna Seymour Hooe was born December 10, 1804.
Georgeanna died June 30, 1881 in Fredericksburg, Va., at 76
years of age.
iii. Thornton Alexander Seymour Hooe was born February 4, 1806.
iv. George Mason Hooe was born November 4, 1807.
v. Elizabeth Virginia Seymour Hooe was born March 23, 1809.
Elizabeth died November 25, 1809 at less than one year of age.
vi. Lucy Rebecca Seymour Hooe was born May 25, 1810.
vii. Robert Emmet Hooe was born September 4, 1811. Robert died
September 25, 1847 at 36 years of age.
viii. Elizabeth Sarah Ann Graham Hooe was born January 5, 1813.
ix. John Taliaferro Hooe was born November 16, 1814. John died
April 21, 1822 at 7 years of age.
x. Anna Maria Hooe was born March 7, 1816. Anna died October 16,
1816 at less than one year of age.
xi. Lucy Frances Fitzhugh Seymour Hooe was born September 6,
1817.
xii. Sarah Seymour Hooe was born February 12, 1819. Sarah died
August 29, 1831 at 12 years of age.
xiii. Richardetta Barnes Mason Hooe was born November 19, 1820.
xiv. Mary Mildred Hooe was born January 19, 1823. Mary died
January 19, 1823 at less than one year of age.
