"Mr. David Pipes was the father of the present day State Treasurer and of one of our members of the general assembly." This was In 1892. This same David Pipes was the husband of Martha Witherington, dau of William Witherington, Jr. I have a picture of the original Beechgrove Plantation house, home of the David W. Pipes (Martha Witherington) family until it burned, if you would like it." Paul Norwood dated 6/29/2000 of Baker, LA.

He and Martha Witherington obtained a marriage license on December 29, 1821 in St. Francisville, West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. He married Amanda Montgomery Dunn on July 18, 1838 in Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. He died on August 14, 1873 in Beech Grove Plantation, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, at age 83. He was buried on August 16, 1873 in Beech Grove Plantation Cemetery, Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.


He served in the Adams Cavalry which was organized in Natchez. He served with this unit and was a Lieutenant during the war of 1812. He was under the command of General Andew Jackson at the battle of New Orleans in 1815.
