I hereby certify that William O. Dunlap, Private, has been three
months
engaged in the late War against the hostile Creek Indians during
which time he
has performed every duty faithfully that has been rquired of him
as a soldier
and he is now hereby Honorably Discharged from the service of
the United
States.
Given under my hand day and date above. Wm. B.W. Dent, Captain
of the Heard
Volunteers, Georgia

Wm. O. Dunlap served June 4 to Aug 18, 1836
On this 29th On this 6th day of March A.D. 1893, personally
appeared before
Wm. S. Perrick a Justice Peace in and for the aforesaid county
duly authorized
to administer oaths, W.O. Dunlap age 80 years a resident of
Buyck in the
County of Elmore, well known to be reputable and entitled to
credit and who
being duly sworn declared in relation to aforesaid case as
follows: That he
was in the Military Service of the Unitd States in the Creek
Indian War of
1836 and enlisted some time in April 1836 and was discharged
about the 19th
day of August 1836. He says he was never in the Naval Service of
the United
States. He says he belonged to a Volunteer Company of Infanty of
which Captain
W. W. Dent was Capatin. Isaac Stevens was a Lieutenant and ?
Whittaker was a
Sargeant. He has forgotten now the name and number of the
Company. He says
that Alex Peddy, Daniel Whittaker, Robert Dawson, Pleas Hancock,
Ben George,
Wiley Cohorn, Jefferson Edwards and Henry Wright were in the
same Company with him. He says that one William WOOD was the
Colonel of the Battalion to which he belonged. Calhoun was
Major. James Wood was General. William O. Dunlap

Bounty Land Claim December 1850
State of Alabama, Coosa County
On this second day of December A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred
and Fifty,
personally appeared before me Isaac W. Suttle Judge of Probate
duly authorized
to administer oaths within and for the County and State
aforesaid, William O.
Dunlap, age thirty eight years, a resident of Coosa County in
the State of
Alabama and being duly sworn according to law declares that he
is the
identical William O. Dunlap who as a Private in the company
commanded by
Captain William B. W. Dent in the Georgia Regiment of Volunteers
commanded by
Col. William Wood in the Creek Indian War in 1836. That he
volunterred at
Heard County, Georgia on or about the fifteenth day of February
A.D. 1836 for
the term of three months and continued in actual service in said
War for the
term of three months and was honorably discharged at Franklin,
Georgia on the
2rd day of September A.D. 1836 as will appear by the written
certificarte of
discharge hereunto attached. He makes this declaration for the
purpose of
obtaining the Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the
act granting
bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been
engaged in the
military service of the United States passed September 28, 1850.

Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written
and I hereby
certify that I believe the said William O. Dulap to be the
identical man who
served as aforesaid and that he is of the age above stated.

(Note: There is a written notation on one of the pages that the
bounty land
which was given to Wm. O. Dunlap was located in Florida. Other
pages indicate
that he sold this land.)
