Notes

Phillip's 2nd wife was Spice Freeland, daughter of James and Priscilla Freeland of Albemarle. Phillip is directly mentioned as the father of James Freeland's grandchildren and Phillip was witness on wills probated in Albemarle Co. VA. Phillip received monies for teaching James Freeland's sons.

From tax records, and wills Phillip was closely allied with John Harris, John Cabell and the Megginson and Patterson families.

Phillip and Spice parented Mace and Micajah Pendleton. There was also a Mace and Micajah Pendleton in other counties.

Between the two wives, it is reported that the sons of Phillip were John, Benjamin, James, Mace and Micajah.

According to no source given: "Philip, (Philip, Philip), b 1728 d after 1760 m’d 1st Martha__ and 2nd Spice Freeland daughter of James and Priscilla Freeland. He moved to Buckingham Co.VA. He was reputed to have had 15 children. If any Philip Pendleton really did have had 15 children it was probably this man who settled in Buckingham. (This Philip at one time was thought to be the son of Henry and Mary Taylor Pendleton) He was of age and in this section of VA. And married before 1753. His youngest son was Micajah Pendleton b 1758. Philip died after 1760 and before 1798. Spice Freeland Pendleton was living 1801

Philip Pendleton the son of Philip and Elizabeth Pollard Pendleton was born probably in King and Queen County, Virignia. He was married twice, the first wife is not known, the name of his second was Spicey Freeland. When we find his name on the Court records of Albemarle county in a suit his name is Philip May.
