Nathaniel Gist served as ensign in Gist's Additional Continental regiment commanded by his kinsman, Col. Mordecai Gist. He was killed, 1780, at King's Mountain. He was born in Maryland.

Prior to removal to the west, Aquila Coney had gotten land in Laurens Co. GA which he sold on 4/11/1818 to William Coney (Laurens Deed Bk. F, p. 82) William Coney sold this same piece of land on 10/8/1818 to William Albritton (Deed Bk. F, p. 249). Aquila and William were probably brothers.


Jeremiah and Aquilla were taxpayers in Montgomery Co. GA in 1805-06.
The 1805 and 1806 tax digests for Montgomery County are on microfilm reel 61-30 at the Georgia Departmentof Archives and History and are published in full in Ruth Blair, Some Early Tax Digests of Georgia (1926), including acreage, names of orginal land grantees, and land evaluations. The lists below include the number of slaves owned and for the 1805 tax digest, land owned in other countries. An asterisk (*) indicates that the person also paid taxes on land in Montgomery County. from "A History of Montgomery County, Georgia to 1918" by Robert Scott Davis, Jr.

Aquiller Coney sells land to William Coney in 1818(?) who then sells it to someone
else in 1818 in Laurens county Ga.;


Aquiller and William Coney move to Mississippi in 1819-1829 and William Has four sons ...Aquiller had a daughter Rachel.

Hi Josephine, I've been looking in the book 'Pamunkey Neighbors of Orange Co. VA' and found these Hamilitons...Ellis, Thomas, Edward.and Mathew......it states...


1790 Ellis Hamilton & Thomas Hamilton came into court and chose Edward Hamilton their guardian, whereupon he with Charles Douglas & Mathew Hamilton, his securities,entered into bond for the same in the sum of 1000 pounds. It says that this was found on a loose sheet in Louisa County records.


I'm sure you probably already have this...but if not I hope it helps.

They had one child: i. Daniel, M (1757-). "This Daniel Soule held a commission in the Revolution and his record of service is extant. He enlisted Nov. 5, 1775 and served two months as private under Captain Churchill, Colonel Cotton's Reg't., Mass. Troops, stationed at Roxbury, Mass. He enlisted in Feb. 1776, for three months under Capt. James Harlow, Col. Cotton's Reg't. at Roxbury, Mass. He enlisted in July, 1776, under Capt. James Harlow, Col. Cotton's Reg't. Marched to New Haven, Conn., went from thence by water to New York and up the North River. Was at White Plains when the British Light Horse came there. In service five weeks. Afterwards served five months at Cambridge under Capt. Ebenezer Washburn in Col. Brooks' Reg't. In the fall of 1780, served three months in Capt. Jerry Sturtevant's company, Col. Jacob's Reg't., stationed at Batt's Hill and Bristol Ferry, R. I.


John Bisbie of Plympton, Mass., aged 77 years, testified in 1832, to service with him in Capt. Harlow's Company at Roxbury and in New York; also in Capt. Sturtevant's Company in Rhode Island. Benjamin Cushman of Plympton, 61 years of age, in 1832, was with him in Rhode Island under Capt. Sturtevant.


On 1 May 1783 when Daniel was 25, he first married Sarah CUSHMAN, F, daughter of Josiah CUSHMAN Jr., M (12 Aug 1719-17 Sep 1784) & Deborah RING, F (21 Jul 1742-6 Sep 1823), in Plymouth, Plymth., Massachusetts. Born on 29 Nov 1759 in Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Sarah died on 8 Jun 1814, she was 54.
They had the following children:

iii. Rebecca, F (1786-)
iv. Daniel, M (1791-1828)
v. Josiah, M (1794-)
vi. Sally, F (1800-)

In 1818 when Daniel was 60, he second married Lucy WATERMAN, F.3 Born on 6 Mar 1761.Widow of Isaac Waterman of Halifax, Mass., and daughter of Joseph Sampson."
