Col. Dick Morgan was scarecely less famous than his dashing
brother John, who beside him in all his raids, was captured with
him, and his strong personal resemblance to the General enabled
him to exchange cells, and take all the risk of the discovery.
As a Colonel in the Confederate Army, Richard Morgan served on
the staffs of both General John C. Breckinridge and his
brother-in-law, General A.P. Hill.
After the war, Morgan worked first as a civil engineer for
several railroads, and was later on involved in the hemp
business. Very late in life, on July 21, 1897 (aged 61) he
married Alice Mabon Bright. [Morgans, Wm andSons.FBK.FTW]
