William left eight sons, (and one daughter,) five of whom have
now (Anno Domini 1779) male issue.
"Capt. William Ball, the second son of Col. William Ball, born 2
Jun 1641. He appears to have settled in Virginia while his
father was living in Maryland. He was domiciled in St. Mary's
White Chapel Parish, Lancaster County, 1669. He married prior to
11 Nov 1672, Margaret Williamson, daughter of James Williamson
(died 1656), of Rappahannock Co, VA, one of the principal land
owners and a wealthy merchant, and his wife, Ann, daughter of
Colonel William Underwood.
They had eight sons and one daughter: William, Richard, James,
Joseph, George, David, Margaret (married Rawleigh Downman),
Stretchley and Samuel.
Capt. William Ball's wife, Margaret (Williamson) Ball, was
living when he made his will, 29 Dec 1694 (Virginia Magazine of
History and Bioqraphy, Vol. 8, page 81; Hayden's Virginia
Genealogies, page 47; and "Wills of Rappahannock County,
Virginia, 1656-1692," by William Montgomery Sweeny, pages 5,
6)."
