As a member of the Cinq-Cents, Lucien Bonaparte was one of the
key people who ensured Napoleon's successful bid for power in
the Brumaire coup.
He eloquently brought the politicians in behind his older
brother at a crucial time, but was not interested in being
rewarded for his support.
In fact, Lucien was not thrilled with the way France was heading
under Napoleon and in 1804, spurning imperial honours, he went
into self-imposed exile.
Initially living in Rome, he moved to America, before returning
to Italy after Napoleon's fall.

His birthdate is established by an old register of births passed
down from genreation to generation by the Foote family
descendants. It begins: Richard Foote, son of John Foote, Gent.
was born at theCounty of Cornwall, the 10 day of August An'o
1632.
Richard married Hester Hayward on Oct 19, 1657 in St. Leonard's
Anglican Chruch of Shoreditch, London on Aug 13, 1658. Susannah
was born, but lived only a few days. On Jan. 25, 1660 Samuel was
born. Mary was born Oct 1 1662, but died in May, 1664. In 1665,
the Great Plague struck London, and it's probable that Richard
took his family to Cornwall to escape it. Richard 11 was born
Jan. 31, 1666 probably in Cornwall due to the Plague which
killed 100,000 in London during the last eight months of
Hester's pregnancy. At 1:00 am the morning of Sunday, Sept.2,
1666, the Great Fire of London erupted and burned until Wed, but
the home of the Foote and Hayward families and others of
Shoreditch were spared. Elizabeth was born Oct 27, 1668. In Jan
1670 Mary was born but lived only nine months. Hester was born
Dec. 8,1672, but died and was buried 10 days later. George was
born on Oct.22, 1673 and Sarah was born Oct 22, 1675 and died
shortly after her birth. The next child was Sarah, born Jun 27,
1676. Frances was born Jan 8, 1678, followed by Henry on July 5,
1680, and Mathias on Dec 13,1683, but he soon died.

children, Richard, George, Sarah, Francis and Henry, the rest of
his children (Samuel Fotte and the testator's daughter Elizabeth
Holmes) being already provided for, from the other third, 100
pounds (money) to Samuel Foote. (It is not clear whether
legacies below also come from this last third).

Deed Book 1 pages 456-459 dated the 20 Nov 1762 Between Richard
Foote, Gentleman of Stafford County, Virginia and William
STUART, Clerk, George Foote, Gilson Foote, Richard Foote and
William Foote four of the sons of Richard Foote now deceased.
Many years ago George Brent, Robert Bristow, Richard Foote grand
father of the first mentioned Richard Foote obtained a patent
from the Proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia for 30,000
acres. This land descended to his son Richard Foote, the Father
of the First named Richard who received the land in fee simple
he gave 800 acres of his Brent Town Land to two daughters in fee
Tail and by his will to his sons Richard (first party to these
presents) George and John Foote to their heirs to be forever
equally divided . The said son John Foote died intestate without
children. The said Richard party of the first part became
intituled John's land, and said Richard was therefore intuled to
2/3rds and George Foote was to receive one third of an undivided
4th part of the whole Brent Town land except for 800 acres
devised to their sisters. In 1737 and 1738 by consent of the
proprietors the said land was divided into four lots and it was
the proprietors intention and it was that every lot should
contain an equal quantity of land to wit, 7,500 acres. After the
lots were drawn the first named Richard supposing that the lot
which fell to the Footes contained the full compliment, he soon
after allotted to his sisters 800 acres there of and to his
brother George Foote the Devissee 1/3 part of 6700 acres
