"The settlement of his estate in July 1838 is recorded in Henry Co, VA, Will Book 4, p 142, an inventory and appraisal taken by F. B. Turner. It is recorded in Kingston, Roane Co, TN in Estate Records 8 or B (1829-1837). Born in Charles Co. MD to a large and early Philpott family that was located there and in the family move to the Henry Co./NC area we find a large Philpott family in that location who are somehow related to the MD Philpott family.

Samuel Philpott paid taxes in Henry Co., VA. during the 1780's. His name was on the Henry Co Personal Tax List in 1806, then in 1814 he was listed with John Philpott and together they paid two tithes until 1822 when John died. He paid taxes in Patrick County from 1806 to 1823. He paid land taxes on 50 acres in Henry County until 1830. In December 1823 Samuel and Polly Philpott sold 144 acres in Patrick County on the south side of Smith River to their son-in-law, William Stone of Patrick County (Patrick County, VA Deed Book 9, p 290). In Henry Co. they sold land also on the same date. (D.B. 6p 191)."

8. Mary Ann Philpott, (it is interesting that Lucinda and Mary Ann are named themselves instead of spouses, Lucinda was evidently single, however Mary Ann was married to her cousin, Allen Philpott;
9. Barton Philpott;
10. Tom Philpott;
11. Joseph Turner, husband of (Druscilla Pricy Philpott);
12. James Byrd, husband of (Eurelia Philpott, (thought to be Carolina by some);
13. John Carter, husband of (Nancy Philpott).

A son Samuel, Jr. (born 1786, died 1826) according to Loye Roach (Philpott's, Maryland to Arkansas) , a descendant of Samuel (b 1762), was not listed among the legatees in the estate admin. Also a daughter, Susannah is not listed there either. Samuel(1762) gave consent for Susannah's marriage to Forest Phifer, John Carter was security), see Henry Co Marriages compiled by Dodd, (from MYA) (Have copy of Estate Adm list of legatees, SEW). Addison Carrick and Richard McPherson were co-administrators of the estate, as was Robert Cannon, date July 24, 1836.

June Stubbs (descendant of Zachariah Philpott, brother of Samuel) has found eight children for Samuel, they were: Samuel, Jr., b 1786; Sarah Hannah, b 1788; Alexander, m. 1807; John Wren b 1791; Nancy m. 1812; Susannah m. 1814, Elizabeth m 1817; and Patsy m. 1819.
Mrs. Stubbs says she did not search thoroughly for other than her direct ancestors."

"On 21 Nov 1655, John1 assigned 300 acres of this tract to Richard Beauford [called Blueford in the deed]. The fact that Vause assigned it to Beauford instead of selling it has led to speculation that Beauford married John1's daughter, and this land assignment was part of a dowry. In any case, it is probable that John1's first wife was named Anne, since on 2 Dec 1664, John1 and wife Anne jointly witnessed a land deal with Richard Lewys who had land adjacent to John Beauford." ^[S1944]
